Meet Elizabeth

Philosophy

Elizabeth's lifelong passion for music and the arts drives her belief that learning music should be a positive experience for all. Lessons are tailored to meet individual student’s learning needs. Her teaching objective is to build the essential foundational skills that are vital for students to master and provide a smooth transition to intermediate and more advanced levels of study.

Education

Elizabeth has studied the piano since she was eight years old. She studied with Dr. Lena Vozheiko-Wheaton in Vancouver, WA and Drs. Susan Chan and Daniel Immel at Washington State University Pullman, where she earned her Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance in 2005. Elizabeth earned her Masters of Music in Music Education and Music Technology from Boston University in 2017. Elizabeth learned to play contemporary style piano during her 11-year career as a worship pastor and has continued that training into playing a wide variety of styles with the Leading Tones Band.

Elizabeth is an active member of the local Washington Clark County chapter (CCMTA) and the Portland chapter (OMTA) of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), is certified with the Technology Institute of Music Educators (TI:ME), and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM).

Experience

Elizabeth has been concurrently pursuing professional music and her private studio since 2005. She was on staff as the Worship and Arts Pastor at Grace Church in Camas, WA until 2015. She taught general music, band, and private and group music lessons at Camas Christian Academy for the 2015-2016 school year. Elizabeth has been pursuing her private studio full time since 2016, teaching over 50 private students and performing regularly around Clark County.

Elizabeth has found no greater joy than sharing her love for music with this generation of students, both youth and adult alike! She is married to her amazing husband of 13 years, Joshua; they have a darling son Michael and a sweet girl Natalie. They look forward to getting to know your family!
